Since 1987, a trusty and successful cooperation in agricultural research has developed between the Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Rehovot and the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Hohenheim. In recent years, this cooperation has been extended to the whole field of life sciences also incorporating researchers of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Hohenheim. Many institutional and personal bonds have meanwhile evolved from this long-term cooperation which are regularly extended to young scientists and newly appointed professors.

After a competitive call for proposals, four collaborative research projects are usually selected for a two-years' initial funding by this partnership program every two years. To date, 70 joint research projects have been supported by this seed money provided by the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg and the University of Hohenheim. Excellent collaborative research within this partnership program has resulted in numerous joint publications and research projects funded by institutions like DFG, GIF, BMBF or EU.
